Accelerated cost recovery system (acrs)

provision instituted by the Economic Recovery Act of 1981 and Modified by the tax reform Act of 1986 which established rules for the depreciation the recovery of cost through tax deductions of qualifying assets within a short order period. Then the assets expected useful life with certain expectation exceptions arc’s rules provided for greater acceleration over longer periods of time than ERta rules and were effective for placed in service between 1980 and 87 the arcs was superseded by the modified accelerated cost recovery system (macrs) for asset placed in into service after 1986
